Following my graduation from North Dakota State University in 1971, I left for pilot training with the United States Air Force. During my time in the Air Force, I flew T37s and T38s for a year and then C130s for four years in Vietnam. For a young man at that time, that was something … an experience, a dream really. That power changed me. It helped me see what I was capable of achieving, and it taught me lessons about freedom and independence that still guide me today.
After my service in the military, I soon began my tenure in the financial services industry with Prudential Life Insurance Company where I spent 25 years in executive roles for the organization.
Having spent my entire professional career working for worldwide corporate institutions, I knew I was missing the freedom that defined me during my days in the Air Force. In July 2005, my wife and business partner, Tami, and I decided to take a risk and formed an organization for financial professionals that is captivating, yet not captive. We have worked tirelessly to build Gradient Financial Group, LLC, a financial organization that is guided by our quest for independence, innovation and family.
Our insurance brokerage that is offering the Jet Set Giveaway is housed in Topeka, Kansas, and all other organizations are based in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. Now with two locations, we invested in a Beechcraft Premier 1 jet which allows us to travel between our offices, and it provides an efficient means to see you in the field, which is critical for our business.
Tami and I share a passion for the industry and, more importantly, a passion for people and wanting to help them fulfill a dream. We always say, if you lead with your heart and help others fulfill their dreams, the rest will take care of itself. That is how we run our business.
The Jet Set Giveaway is truly a reflection of our passion. We talked about giving away Harley-Davidson motorcycles or a Can-Am Roadster, but those giveaways do not offer evidence of who we are or how we run our business. Having never lost my love of the sky, I have had the opportunity to own a number of planes through the years. The Premier is my first jet.
